PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, PC, and more: the biggest new games in 2022 and beyond


This is the last batch of new games for 2022, and we're fast approaching the end of the year. There is something below that may interest you if the high profile Fall releases haven't caught your attention, such as Gotham Knights, Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, and Scorn.


No matter if you want to play some really interesting upcoming PS5 games, upcoming Xbox Series X games, or upcoming horror games. Check out the list of 2022's new games to make sure you don't miss anything.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2:

Developer Infinity Ward has confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will feature Task Force 141 from the reboot of the series. As a narrative continuation, it will continue the conversation Captain Price had with CIA handler Kate Laswell, as well as General Shepherd, regarding Victor Zakhaev. Bayonetta 3:

  • Release date: October 28, 2022.


Our thanks go to Nintendo for funding the Wii U sequel of Bayonetta 2, which will be released next week for the Switch. Among PlatinumGames' promises for this game are the revamp of the combat systems, the introduction of absurd encounter designs, and some visuals designed to push the Nintendo Switch to its limits. It's going to be awesome.


Harvestella:




  • Platform(s): PC, Nintendo Switch.

  • Release date: November 4, 2022.


An RPG featuring farming, fishing, dungeons, and more was announced by Square Enix during the June Nintendo Direct Mini. Getting to know the locals, exploring Lethe, and caring for your crops are all ways in which Harvestella allows you to go about your daily life however you choose. When the season's change and time passes, you'll have to prepare yourself for a dangerous period known as Quietus. Deadly dust will erupt during this period, causing plants to wither away, and people to be unable to go outside.


Sonic Frontiers:




  • Platform(s): PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PC.

  • Release date: November 8, 2022.


You'll experience "open-zone freedom" with the famous blue hedgehog in a new adventure. You will encounter powerful opponents as you speed across forested areas, desertland, and other landscapes as you explore Starfall islands. During the Game Awards 2021, we got to see a preview of Sonic Frontiers' cinematic trailer to learn about these landscapes, which were adorned by towering structures and vast waterfalls.


God of War: Ragnarok:

  • Release date: November 9, 2022.


As Kratos and a much larger Atreus face Freya, Thor, and the impending Ragnarok in the latest trailer for God of War Ragnarok, the trailer broke the internet. Angrboda and Odin will be among the new characters introduced in the film, which will be directed by Eric Willaims following the departure of Cory Barlog. God of War's Norse saga will come to an end with this part.


Pentiment:

  • Release date: November 15, 2022.


After Grounded from Early Access, Pentiment will be Obsidian's second major Xbox exclusive in 2022. There's a bit of a weirdness to this one, and that's a good thing. This game is set in 16th-century Germany and is being developed by the studio that developed The Outer Worlds and Fallout: New Vegas. One of the most distinctive games of the year, Pentiment focuses on character development and choice-driven storytelling. We're looking forward to playing one of Obsidian's most anticipated games!


Warzone 2:

  • Release date: November 16, 2022.


The next generation of Call of Duty will begin on October 28 with Modern Warfare 2. A new battle royale game is coming soon, Warzone 2, which is one of the most anticipated games of the year. With its new map, new looting system, and forward-looking respawning and circle shrinking, Warzone 2 builds on the foundation of Modern Warfare 2. The stakes are high for this one.


Goat Simulator 3:

  • Release date: November 17, 2022.


It's not a mistake that you missed Goat Simulator 2. Coffee Stain has skipped the second installment completely and instead dived straight into goat simulation 3, which looks just as absurd as you'd expect. Featuring an expansive new sandbox and an advanced physics system, Goat Simulator 3 is set to be a fascinating adventure. The game also supports a four-player co-op, in case you wish to play with your friends.


The Dark Pictures Anthology: The Devil in Me:


  • Platform(s): PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One

  • Release date: November 18, 2022


A new episode of The Dark Pictures Anthology will be released by Supermassive Games later this year. The Devil in Me features an interactive drama and survival horror experience, following a crew of documentary filmmakers into a replica of serial killer H.H.A modern-day replica of H.H. Holmes' Murder Castle is the setting for the game. Our curiosity is piqued to see if the studio can succeed with its anthology experiment, which features five playable protagonists and a multi-linear narrative.


Pokemon Scarlet and Violet:

  • Release date: November 18, 2022


This time, a duo of Pokemon games will be released in 2022. A truly open-world adventure awaits players with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet at the end of this year. In keeping with what we got with Pokemon Legends: Arceus, you will be able to discover and catch Pokemon freely in this world without borders. A Spanish Mediterranean city setting is included in the game, as well as the introduction of the Gen 9 Pokedex.


Warhammer 40K: Darktide:

The team behind the Vermintide series presents Warhammer 40,000: Darktide, a brand-new co-op action game. Defeat hordes of horrible monsters in some beautiful sci-fi settings after creating your character and defining their skillset. The strong melee system of Vermintide 2 will be enhanced by the gunplay of Warhammer 40K, according to Fatshark. You're guaranteed to have a good time playing Darktide, whether you play alone or with friends.


Marvel's Midnight Suns:

  • Release date: December 2, 2022.


We will play Marvel's Midnight Suns, a supernatural strategy game developed by Firaxis, the company behind the XCOM series. Lillith, the Mother of Demons, is the target of these Midnight Suns characters coming together. As the first customizable Marvel hero, you'll also be needed to help them. The PS5, Xbox One, and Switch versions of Marvel's Midnight Suns will be released in 2023, followed by the release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC in December.


The Callisto Protocol:

  • Release date: December 2, 2022.


It might be well worth it to have The Callisto Protocol installed on your motion sensor if you're into survival horror. It makes its debut from the new studio Striking Distance and promises plenty of gruesome alien nightmare fuel in a maximum security prison on Jupiter's moon. In addition to being developed by Glen Schofield, who gave us Dead Space, The Callisto Protocol is set in the PUBG universe as well. Your interest has been piqued.


High on Life:


  • Platform(s): PC, Xbox Series X/S.

  • Release date: December 13, 2022.


In High on Life, Rick and Morty creator Justin Roiland takes on a new comedy adventure. As a high school graduate with no real life to speak of, you become an intergalactic bounty hunter who takes on an alien cartel that invades earth to use humanity as a drug. A colorful talking gun will also be your ally.


Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core Reunion:


  • Developer: Square Enix.

  • Platform(s): PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch.

  • Release date: December 13, 2022.


Square Enix is releasing Crisis Core: Final Fantasy 7 on other platforms after locking it away in the PSP library vault. Remastered versions of Final Fantasy 7's prequel from 2007 are being released. Among other things, it features HD graphics, new 3D models, and updated combat similar to that of the Final Fantasy 7 remake. Later this year, we will be able to play it, and it looks excellent.


Highwater:




  • Release date: December 2022.

  • Platform(s): PC, Android, iOS.


During Summer Game Fest 2022, we first saw the indie from developer Demagog Studio play. A climate catastrophe affects the world in Highwater, which has a beautiful art style. This flooded game follows the journey of Niko, a character who sets out on a boat to travel across the country. A turn-based combat system based on utilizing the environment is used by Niko along the way with friends he meets along the way.


Atomic Heart:




  • Platform(s): PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, PS4, Xbox One.

  • Release date: December 2022.


Featuring some of the scariest-looking monsters we've seen in recent memory, Atomic Heart is a strange, atmospheric horror shooter you can't put down. It was originally planned to launch in 2020, but Mundfish's vision of a dystopian USSR with robots and holograms will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, and last-gen consoles by the end of the year.
