Have you been wondering when GTA 6 will be released? The fact that Rockstar Games has already spent years developing GTA 6 is not surprising considering the time it takes to make open-world games of the same caliber as GTA V.It's rare we see any official GTA 6 gameplay before Rockstar's close to the end of development, so don't expect any soon.

A lot of early gameplay footage and source code for GTA 6 has been released online recently. Several items, including development footage for GTA 6, have been copied from Rockstar's systems by an unauthorized third party, according to a statement on Twitter. Developers, however, assert that their live service games will not be affected by the leak. They also do not expect it to disrupt their long-term projects.

GTA 6 release date speculation:

What is the release date of GTA 6? Reports from Bloomberg suggest that GTA 6 won't be released until at least two years from now. There are still two years before the release of GTA 6 and the game will be set in a Vice City-style Miami, featuring a Latina female protagonist. A GTA 6 trailer may also be released in 2022, according to one rumor.

GTA 6 leaks:

In one of the biggest data breaches in history, 90 videos showing 53 minutes and 26 seconds of test footage were leaked on September 18, 2022. A Boston Herald report from earlier that year reported that the player played both a male and female character in the early test footage as part of a Bonnie and Clyde-like team named Jason and Lucia. A standout clip shows Lucia being controlled by the player while Jason is serving meals. Lucia can be seen on another video standing on a street corner, watching the commuters while Jason visits a nightclub.

Following the public release of the footage, the leaker of GTA 6 has been arrested. Earlier this week, a 17-year-old suspect appeared in court and entered a plea of not guilty to two charges of computer misuse offenses, one relating to the leaks of GTA 6, and two bail violations.

GTA 6 news:

Even after the significant setback, Rockstar says its work on "the next Grand Theft Auto" will continue as scheduled. While it is disappointed that early footage of the upcoming sandbox game has leaked, Rockstar says it still plans to release it this year. In addition, developers assure fans that they'll update everyone again soon, and of course present this upcoming game in a proper manner once it's ready.

As of February 4, when Rockstar announced, "active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway", there has been a significant amount of development going on for GTA 6. There can be no doubt that whatever it is, it will be special. When Rockstar announced it was winding down Red Dead Online support, the studio said more resources would be devoted to "the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series" and they would make sure the game "exceed(s) players' expectations."

Taking-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, in an interview with gamesindustry.biz, suggested that better development tools and bigger teams could help shorten game release gaps. There is also the possibility that "games may be shorter" when they are still robustly supported after launch.

According to a Kotaku report from 2020, another reason the next GTA could be shorter is to mitigate crunch time. In a plan laid out by management for the next Grand Theft Auto game, a new entry into the series, management plans to begin with a moderately sized game (which, by Rockstar standards, is still quite large) that will be expanded with regular updates over time, potentially reducing stress and crunch. As a result of the criticism the company attracted following the release of Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar employees are speaking out about the positive changes they are making at the company. Despite that, the release date for GTA 6 is still unknown, as it may take years to come.

GTA 6 story rumors:

In Tom Henderson's July 2021 video, he discusses the idea that GTA 6 is set in modern-day Vice City, not a 1980s Vice City as some had alleged. Several details from the leaks seem to confirm some of these theories. This seems to be true, based on leaked footage of Jason entering a Vice City Metro train.

GTA 6's map and the surrounding areas could be twice as large as Los Santos in GTA 5. If the leaked calculations are accurate, the Vice City area of GTA 6 could be twice as large as Los Santos in GTA 5. According to rumors, the map of the campaign will also evolve as DLC is released to add new areas or update existing ones. Accordingly, GTA Online may feature an evolving map that changes with each update, much like Fortnite's map changes as the season progresses.

Despite the leaks showing off the new female playable character, rumors about this character had been circulating for a long time. There have been some clues found on GTA Forums, revealing some of the voice talents. According to her CV, Natonia Monet originally listed a performance as "Tamara" under a project code named "Fireball".Although the profile has since been altered, one of their users pointed out that Pitbull composes the song Fireball, and he is from Miami - which makes sense since Miami Vice served as the inspiration for the original GTA Vice City. Lucia is the name of the main character, but it appears she is not the main character.

Dan Houser has explained why there weren't playable women in the GTA series before, so the appearance of a female protagonist in GTA 6 makes sense. The Guardian interviewed him in 2013 about why women weren't playable in GTA V and ways it could be included later. During the development of GTA V, we didn't think about it. The point is not that we cannot or will not do it. Having a character set like this just came to us: it wasn't that we had X and Y, so we needed Z, it wasn't that we were following a checklist - I don't think that will ever result in a believable or engaging story.

Could we make a game featuring a female lead in the future? It's no problem. It's something we always think about, but we haven't found the right game yet. Although it didn't feel natural for this game, it could be a fantastic theme for a future game with the right themes.

GTA 6 gameplay:

The gameplay we've seen from the leaks of GTA 6 doesn't seem to differ much from what we saw in GTA 5. By shooting the hostages in the back as they run, the player is attempting to hold up a diner and prevent them from escaping. As well, we see Jason and Lucia steal a car from the cops and drive around the block to evade them. In addition, Jason shoots an assault rifle while leaning out of moving cars.

Raw test footage provides a better indication of how the movement mechanics work, such as the crouching mode, crawling mode, and covering mode. As an additional precaution, the playable character can cover their face with their hands or weapons.

We see Jason using his new vision ability in a convenience store at one point in the footage. Right now, we only see it adjusting the colors of footage, similar to how Deadeye works in Red Dead Redemption.

As you would expect, there are cars and boats that players can drive, as well as a metro to get them around the city. Furthermore, players appear to be able to adjust the steering wheel position, chair angles, and other controls on the cars.
